The first batch of post-movie episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants was garbage. This was due to the lack of Stephen Hillenburg during the production of any of these episodes, because of him leaving the show to focus on other things. But then he came back after a while. This caused the most recent modern SpongeBob episodes to be a lot more decent in quality, and just like a Nicktoon. However, after Stephen died, the newer episodes currently in production will most likely be just as bad if not worse. Many of the episodes he did work on for modern SpongeBob are being aired posthumously with his name in the opening credits of each episode he did work on. The point is, Stephen was the creative genius that made SpongeBob.... SpongeBob. Now that he's gone, that golden age of modern SpongeBob may be drawing to a close as we slowly hit a bronze age that made the first post-movie episodes terrible.
